In a significant move towards environmental sustainability, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has joined forces with BEEAH to expedite the establishment of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

Strategic Deployment: Strategically placing hundreds of new charging points along highways and within urban areas will ensure convenient access for EV drivers. This initiative aims to bolster the existing EV charging infrastructure and reduce the distance between charging points, providing drivers with added peace of mind.

Collaborative Efforts: SRTA Chairman, Yousif Khamis Mohamed Alathmane, and BEEAH’s Group CEO, Khaled Al Huraimel, recently convened to explore the potential of this collaboration. Both entities expressed their commitment to aligning with the UAE’s sustainable development goals and national strategies for energy and climate change.

Environmental Impact: Alathmane emphasized the project’s role in promoting renewable and eco-friendly energy. The deployment of electric buses and taxis has been a part of the Authority’s strategy, contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions and improvements in public services.

National Electric Vehicles Policy: The project aligns with the National Electric Vehicles Policy, aiming to position the UAE as a global market for electric vehicles, with a target of 50% EVs on the roads by 2050.

BEEAH’s Commitment: Khaled Al Huraimel highlighted BEEAH’s commitment to shaping a greener transportation industry. The company has already integrated EVs into its fleet and is exploring innovative solutions like green hydrogen-powered vehicles. BEEAH aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040.

Conclusion: The partnership between SRTA and BEEAH is poised to enhance Sharjah’s position as a leader in sustainability. By integrating robust EV charging networks into the city’s infrastructure, they aim to secure a future as a climate-positive, net-zero city.
