Tata Motors has officially unveiled its latest electric SUV, the Tata Punch EV, in India, setting a competitive starting price of ₹10.99 lakh. This marks a significant move in the electric vehicle market, offering customers a compelling option in the evolving landscape of sustainable mobility.

Variants and Pricing: The Tata Punch EV is available in four variants—Smart, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+. Each variant caters to different preferences, with the top-end Empowered+ priced at ₹14.49 lakh. Interested buyers can secure their Punch EV through Tata’s specialized EV dealerships or the official website, initiating the process with a token amount of ₹21,000.

Design and Platform: Built on Tata’s innovative Gen-2 Pure EV platform named Acti.EV, the Punch EV maintains a robust ground clearance of 190 mm and distinctive design elements reminiscent of the Nexon EV facelift. Notably, it introduces a novel “frunk,” adding 14 liters of storage under the hood, a first for an Indian electric car.

Battery and Range: Tata offers two battery packs for the Punch EV, with capacities of 25kWh and 35kWh. These power the SUV, providing a claimed range of up to 421 km on a single charge. The mid-range variant covers an impressive 315 km. Charging options include a 7.2 kW fast home charger and 50 kW DC fast chargers, enabling 10% to 80% charge in under an hour.

Performance: Performance-wise, the Punch EV stands out with a mid-range variant offering 80 bhp and 114 Nm of torque, while the long-range version boasts 120 bhp and 190 Nm. The SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 9.5 seconds and achieves a top speed of 140 kmph.

Features: Loaded with features, the Punch EV prioritizes comfort and technology. Highlights include leatherette seats, front-row seat ventilation, air purifier, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a digital instrument cluster. Safety features encompass wireless charging, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 360-degree camera, blind spot monitoring, and six airbags as standard.
